Trauma is a nearly inevitable part of the human experience. It comes in many forms. Childhood abuse, sexual trauma, military or first responder experience, sudden death of a loved one, and many others.

 

Trauma can result in increased resiliency and/or long-term negative effects.

 

Learning skills to address it improves relationships and quality of life. We work together to help break the limits trauma can impose on you and those in your life using various methods, depending on the individual. As painful as trauma is for the individual, the biggest damage tends to be on future relationships. Breaking the bonds of trauma often has dramatic benefits at home, work, school, and in the community.

What is EMDR?

EMDR is a widely tested and effective method for assisting people in overcoming the effects of trauma quickly and permanently. It utilizes specialized light, sound, and vibrating equipment to get past the body and brain's automatic threat response system in order to reprocess the long-term effects of trauma on core beliefs about ones self. Clients commonly experience "adaptive shifts" which free them from the longstanding scars of trauma including: Relationship problems, addictions, physical pain, sleep disturbance, anger, hypervigilance, etc.

The most important thing to know about Forward Facing Trauma Treatment (FFTT) is that it starts with the premise that trauma in the past has resulted in over-adaptation in the present.

 

We can all learn to control our automatic responses to things that remind us of our trauma- even if we don't know what those triggers are! Doing so results in better quality of life for you and everyone around you. In order to achieve this, we train in simple skills for managing the body and brain using proven techniques that really work.
